Question: What is ITIL®?


Developed by the Cabinet Office, ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) is the most widely accepted approach to IT Service Management (ITSM) in the world, with more than1.500.000 certified people, as it provides a cohesive set of best practices, drawn from the public and private sectors worldwide. ITIL is the most widely adopted approach for IT Service Management in the world. It provides a practical framework for identifying, planning, delivering and supporting IT services to the business.

Question: What are ITIL® Certifications & ITIL Exams?


The ITIL Qualifications scheme provides a modular approach to the ITIL®Certification and is comprised of 4 levels of certifications focusing on different aspects and degrees of depth:

  • ITIL Foundation
  • ITIL Intermediate
  • ITIL Expert

    The modular structure makes the certification more flexible, thus more accessible and achievable. Each certificate carries a number of credits towards the advanced level qualifications. A minimum of twenty-two credits is required to achieve the ITIL® Expert level qualification.
Question: What is ITIL® Foundation level?


The Foundation Level is the entry level qualification which offers candidates a general awareness of the key elements, concepts and terminology used in the ITIL Service Lifecycle, including the linkages between Lifecycle stages, the processes used and their contribution to Service Management practices.

Question: Why should I take ITIL® Foundation?


Upon successful completion of the education and examination components related to this qualification, Candidates can expect to gain a general overview, and basic knowledge and understanding of ITIL. Successful completion of the Foundation qualification also fulfils the prerequisite entry criteria for the next level of study within the ITIL qualifications scheme, the ITIL Intermediate Level.

Question: ITIL® Foundation - Is it right for me?


This qualification is primarily aimed toward:

  • Those who require a basic understanding of the ITIL framework;
  • Those who need understanding of how ITIL can be used to enhance the quality of IT service management within an organization;
  • IT professionals or others working within an organization that has adopted and adapted ITIL who need to be informed about, or contribute to an ongoing service improvement programmer
  • The ITIL qualification is open to any individuals who may have an interest in the subject.
  • The ITIL Foundation qualification is not intended to enable the holders of the qualification to apply the ITIL practices for Service Management without further guidance.
Question: What is ITIL® Intermediate Level?


ITIL Intermediate level has a modular structure with each module holding a different focus. Candidates can take as few or as many Intermediate qualifications as they require, and to suit their needs. The Intermediate modules go into more detail than the Foundation level, and are an industry-recognized qualification.

Service Lifecycle modules and Service Capability modules are two approaches to complete Intermediate level. Question: ITIL® Intermediate - Is it right for me?

If you are looking to gain intense, specialized, process-level knowledge in one or more process, with focus on the day-to-day execution of ITIL practices, the Service Capability modules will be of interest to you:

  • Release, Control and Validation
  • Operational Support and Analysis
  • Planning, Protection and Optimization

Some individuals may wish to concentrate on one stream of modules, however candidates may also choose to select modules from both Service Lifecycle and Service Capability streams to gain a holistic view of an entire stage from both a high level management level and the detailed, technical perspective.

Question: What is ITIL® Manage Across the Lifecycle?


The ITIL Managing Across the Lifecycle Qualification is a capstone module which is aimed at those candidates interested in achieving ITIL Expert Level, for which this module is a key requirement.

Question: What is ITIL® Expert Level?

Question: Which exams are available online and Paper based?


All ITIL® exams are available either web or paper based.

Question: Can I prepare for an Exam without Training?


All exams require completion of training from an accredited training provider, apart from the Foundation level.

Question: How long does the exam take?


Exam times vary depending on the level. The Foundation level exam time is 60 minutes and the Intermediate level time is 90 minutes.

Question: Are the exam questions multiple choice, essay style or both?


All questions are multiple choice.

Question: When will I receive the result of my exam?


For web based exams, results are immediate, subject to final verification from PEOPLECERT. For paper based exams, results are sent within 2 business days upon receipt of the exam papers.

Question: When do I receive my certificate?


If you have taken a PEOPLECERT web proctored exam, your certificate will be mailed two business days after the day of the exam. Otherwise please contact your examination center for the receipt of your certificate.

Question: What do I do if I lost my certificate?


Please contact us at info@peoplecert.org and we will reissue your certificate. Please note that there is a charge fee for this service.

Question: I am visually impaired. Can I still take a PEOPLECERT exam?


Yes you can. Our system supports the Automated Test evaluation facility which enables visually impaired candidates to take the exam.

Question: What to do between CISA / CISSP / PMP / ITIL Expert?


If you are interested in systems auditing then you may go for CISA. If you wish to work in projects or project management then PMP is best option for you.

If you want to work in IT operations and security then you can go for CISSP. If you are in IT Service management then you must go for ITIL stream. KS&S experts will assist you.
